Can I use Depakine Chrono and Klacid at the same time?

Hello. My son is taking Depakine chrono, the doctor prescribed the antibiotic Klacid today, can I combine these drugs? On the leaflet it is written that the drugs can interact with each other

The combination of both drugs is not indicated. Their combination leads to an increase in the concentration of valproic acid - an ingredient of Depakine Chrono - in the blood, and at the same time increases the risk of seizures.

Therefore, at every doctor's visit, you should mention to your doctor what medications you are taking on a regular basis. This gives the doctor a more complete picture of the situation and reduces the risk of drug interactions, as in this case.

I encourage you to contact your doctor. Please mention that your son is being treated with Depakine Chrono. Your doctor will then decide to change the antibiotic to a different one.
