I've been taking Sertraline for 6 days now and I feel unwell after it - when will the medication start working?

I've been taking Sertraline for 6 days now, my head is still confused, I can't eat, I feel sleepy and scared, tense. How and when will I know if these medications are good for me? Are they working properly?

To @Karolina:

Such reactions are not normal and require consultation with a doctor.

The symptoms you describe, such as increased anxiety, suicidal thoughts, walking disorders, may indicate an abnormal reaction to the drug or the wrong dose. You should never ignore such serious side effects.

Please contact your doctor or primary care physician. Your doctor may decide to reduce your dose, change your medication or give you additional treatment to relieve these symptoms. Do not stop taking the medication on your own, as this may worsen your symptoms.

Please remember that each body reacts differently to antidepressants. Your doctor should monitor your condition closely and adjust your treatment if necessary. Please do not give up, appropriate therapy can bring relief, but it requires patience and cooperation with your doctor.

Sertraline treatment should be started at the lowest possible doses in order to minimize the occurrence of initial side effects. Usually, the doctor will present the treatment procedure to the patient and suggest additional supportive medications if the side effects are severe. The described symptoms disappear spontaneously after a few to several days. The first therapeutic effects may appear after a week of use (2-3 weeks for the full effect), while sertraline is intended for long-term treatment and the drug should not be stopped abruptly.

On our website you can check the availability of the medicine and make a reservation at the pharmacy:
