Good morning, the urine test showed numerous squamous epithelium and bacteria( the result out of range marked with an asterisk). I would like to add that 1. 5 weeks before the test I had a cold, so I was taking medication. Please interpret - Could a cold be the cause of this?

Questions about the results of laboratory tests should be directed to the person who ordered them. You can also seek advice from a medical analyst.
The method of collecting the urine sample is very important. Urine for the test should be collected on an empty stomach, after the night, from the so-called middle stream – this prevents contamination of the sample with microorganisms and epithelial cells from the urethra. Women should additionally perform a perineal toilet and part their labia. The first small portion of urine should be passed into the toilet, then, without interrupting the micturition, the "middle" stream should be passed into the container, and then the final portion of urine should be returned to the toilet.
The urine sample should be tested no later than approx. 2-3 hours after collection.
The presence of any number of bacteria is a pathology and in symptomatic patients may indicate a urinary tract infection. However, the presence of bacteria is often associated with contamination of the sample – a thorough qualitative and quantitative assessment of bacteriuria is performed during urine culture. Therefore, you should pay attention to whether there are any symptoms. Squamous epithelium in the number of >5 may indicate a urinary tract infection.
The common cold and the associated use of medication may have affected immunity. Thus, a urinary tract infection can be a natural consequence.
With the results, go to the doctor who will prescribe the appropriate treatment.
