You should ask your doctor about what tests should be performed, but below are some basic tests that may be useful in diagnosing adrenal gland problems:
Cortisol level test - Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Testing cortisol levels in the blood can help assess adrenal function.
In addition to testing the level of aldosterone, testing the level of adrenaline and norepinephrine, testing the level of sex hormones – the adrenal glands produce certain sex hormones, such as dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione. Testing their levels can be helpful in assessing adrenal function. A corticotropin (ACTH) test and a thyroid function test should also be performed - problems with the adrenal glands can affect thyroid function, so assessing thyroid hormone levels (TSH, T4, T3) may also be important.
