Good morning. I suffer from AD, the dermatologist prescribed me Atarax 25mg. Is it possible to get a medical certificate for reduced working hours while taking this medication and suggest that I try not to be a driver while I am taking the medication? I've been given such guidelines and I'm a bit surprised and worried. Can this medication be taken long-term?

Atarax is a preparation with m.in sedative and anxiolytic effects. The preparation is also used to reduce itching. The drug may impair your ability to react and concentrate, so you should not drive after taking it.
I haven't come across a recommendation to reduce the number of working hours. If the doctor thinks that you are entitled to sick leave, he or she should issue one. Sick leave is an inability to work. It is not possible to issue sick leaves on an hourly basis (e.g. for 2 hours every day). If you drive professionally, you should discuss this type of situation during the consultation and your doctor should determine the safe course of action for you.
I am attaching a link that allows you to check the availability of the drug and make a reservation at the pharmacy of your choice:

We wrote about which medications should not be used to drive a car in the article:

You should continue to use Atarax for as long as your doctor tells you to. The physician should indicate the manner and conditions of termination of the prescribed therapy.
