If you first started getting COVID-19 on Monday afternoon, there is a theoretical risk that you may have been infected a few days before your symptoms appeared. The incubation period of COVID-19, which is the time between when a person becomes infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the onset of symptoms, is typically between 2 and 14 days, although it is most often in the range of 4-5 days.
This means that a person you meet on a Saturday morning may have a good chance of getting infected, then they will start showing the first symptoms around Wednesday to Monday of the following week. However, this is only an estimate, and the actual risk of infecting other people may vary.
It is worth noting that the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be transmitted by infected people even before symptoms appear, or by infected people who are completely asymptomatic (so-called asymptomatic carriers). That's why it's so important to follow precautions like wearing masks, social distancing, and washing your hands frequently to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus.
If you suspect or have already confirmed COVID-19 infection, it is important to follow health recommendations and isolate yourself from others, we wrote more about this here:
