Why does a hard-to-find drug have short expiration dates in the pharmacy?

I've been buying a drug for some time now, which has been rather difficult to find for a few years (usually only a dozen or so pharmacies have it in the entire provincial city, very rarely more than 1-2 packages). However, since this year, I have been encountering a situation where the available packages already have a very short expiry date, often less than 30 days, which makes it impossible to buy (one package is 30 daily doses). I wonder what could be the reason for such a situation.
Best regards

The availability of packs with only a short expiry date may be due to the availability of only older stocks of the preparation. It may be that the medicine that is being used is a medicine that is rarely used and is being withdrawn from the market.

In order to give a more complete answer, please provide the name of the preparation used.
