The use of Duozinal syrup is most justified in cases where pertussis infection is also accompanied by an allergy. Then the preparation relieves the cough associated with the allergy and can help reduce the cough reflex. Duozinal does not cure whooping cough.

Duozinal is a two-component preparation with anti-allergic properties. It relieves nasal and eye symptoms associated with seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis, as well as relieves symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Pertussis, on the other hand, is a bacterial infectious disease caused by pertussis bacillus. Whooping cough is treated with antibiotics and symptomatic cough suppressants. We wrote more about whooping cough here:
