Is it possible to apply Bactroban to the nose on the lips (as recommended by the doctor) when it is clearly emphasized in the leaflet that the ointment is for use on the nose only?

Hello, I've been having oozing sores on my lips for 4 weeks now. After exhausting all home remedies, the doctor prescribed me Bactroban for my nose and told me to lubricate it 3 times a day. My question is whether it is possible to use the lip ointment when it is clearly stated in the leaflet that the ointment is for use on the nose only. Thank you and best regards

There are situations when doctors recommend the use of a medicine off-label, i.e. outside the indications included in the summary of product characteristics (or leaflet).
