The decision to qualify a child for adenoidectomy does not depend solely on the presence of a runny nose.

Adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove enlarged pharyngeal tonsils, which is often indicated in children with nasal breathing problems. However, there are eligibility criteria for the procedure, which depend on the doctor's assessment of the child's health.

A runny nose in a child can be a symptom of a viral infection, allergy, irritation or other conditions that do not necessarily disqualify the child for adenoidectomy. If the runny nose is chronic or accompanied by other more serious nasal breathing problems, the doctor may decide to perform the procedure, but this decision will depend on the child's individual health circumstances.

The final decision rests with the specialist referring for the procedure. He or she will be able to accurately assess the child's health and analyze any symptoms and test results to make the right decision about whether or not to perform an adenoidectomy.
