Yes, you are already protected. It is best to start taking Microgynon tablets on day 1 of your natural menstrual cycle (i.e. on the first day of your menstrual period).
You can also start taking the pills on another day of your menstrual cycle. In this case, it is recommended to use an additional barrier contraception, i.e. a condom, for the first 7 days of taking the pills.
