There is a delay of 3 days in applying the Evra patch - what should I do now and will the spotting that has occurred go away on its own?

Hello. I forgot to stick the Eur patch. It was supposed to be on Friday, but pasted on Monday morning. I woke up already with burgundy bleeding. I remembered the plaster and immediately pasted it. Will the spotting go away? I get dizzy from time to time. And when to glue the next one now?

The procedure to be followed in the event of a delay in applying the patch varies depending on the week of the cycle. The detailed procedure is described below. It is difficult to judge whether the spotting will disappear, as this is the body's normal response to a break in contraceptive use.

What to do if you are late in changing your EVRA:

The initial part of the patch cycle ("Week One"/"Day 1"):

A woman may not be protected from becoming pregnant. The first patch in a new cycle of use should be applied as soon as you remember. The "Patch Change Day" and "Day 1" are then changed. For the first 7 days of a new cycle, you should use a non-hormonal method of contraception. If sexual intercourse occurs during a prolonged interval of more than 7 days from the use of the contraceptive patch, the possibility of conception should be considered.

The middle part of the patch cycle ("Week Two"/"Day 8" or "Week Three"/"Day 15"):

- Delay of one or two days (up to 48 hours): Apply a new EVRA patch immediately. The next EVRA patch should be applied on the usual "Patch Change Day". If you have worn the patch correctly in the 7 days preceding the first day of delay, you do not need to use an additional method of contraception.

- Delay of more than two days (48 hours or more): A woman may not be protected from becoming pregnant. Stop your current contraceptive course and start a new four-week cycle immediately with a new EVRA patch. So there is a new "Day 1" and a "Patch Change Day". For the first 7 days of your new cycle, you should use a non-hormonal method of contraception at the same time.

In the final part of the series ("Week Four"/"Day 22"):

If you did not remove the EVRA patch at the beginning of the "Fourth Week" cycle (Day 22), remove it as soon as possible. The next cycle should begin on the usual "Patch Change Day", which is the day after Day 28. It is not necessary to use an additional method of contraception.
