I am 70 years old from 22.09. 2023 I take the drug Katrel 25 and symfaxin ER 37.5. On the first day I took symfaxin 37.5 and 75 and I was supposed to take only 37.5, on the second day I took 37.5 and after 20 days I have to take 75. After taking these medications, there was an increase in blood pressure from 110/76 to 150-160 to 95-100. Therefore, I have a question whether I should continue to take medication and whether the pressure will return to normal.

An increase in blood pressure after starting a new set of medication can be worrying, so it is worth consulting your doctor in such a situation.
According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, hypertension is one of the most common side effects of Symfaxin ER. (velafaxine). In patients treated with venlafaxine, regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended. Blood pressure should be monitored periodically, after initiation of treatment and after each dose increase. Caution should be exercised in patients in whom
Concomitant diseases may be aggravated by increased blood pressure, e.g. patients with impaired cardiac function.
The main thing is not to stop treatment or change doses without consulting a doctor. Regular blood pressure monitoring and close cooperation with your doctor will help you maintain a good blood pressure level and tailor your treatment to your individual needs.
