Is Beloderm safe in 3-year-old boys for phimosis?

Is beloderm really safe in 3-year-old boys? The leaflet says that it is for children over 12 years of age and should not be used in the genital area.

In this case, we are dealing with the so-called off-label treatment, i.e. outside the manufacturer's indications. We wrote more about it here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami

Please note that steroid ointment / cream (here: Beloderm) on the foreskin is applied externally - on the outer plaque of the foreskin. Here are general tips on how Beloderm can be used for phimosis:

1. Before applying the ointment, thoroughly wash and dry the area to which the ointment is to be applied.

2. It is necessary to apply a thin layer of ointment on the foreskin. Do not use more ointments than your doctor prescribes.

3. Please gently but firmly, pull the foreskin back as far as possible without causing pain. The goal is to gradually stretch the skin.

4. After applying the ointment, please leave it on the skin for the time specified by the doctor.

5. Please repeat this process as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day for several weeks.

6. After each application of the ointment, wash your hands thoroughly.

7. Do not exceed the recommended dose and do not use the ointment longer than your doctor prescribes.

If you do not see any improvement after a few weeks of using the ointment, you should consult your doctor. Some cases of phimosis may require another intervention, such as surgical narrowing of the foreskin.

In addition, keep in mind that the use of topical steroids such as Beloderm can lead to side effects such as skin irritation, rash, burning or itching. If you experience any alarming symptoms, you should contact your doctor. If it is not possible to visit a stationary visit, I encourage you to use teleadvice via, for example, the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
