Topical application of clindamycin in gel form (eg Clindacne) during oral retinoids therapy (eg Izotek) is not contraindicated. No interactions have been demonstrated between the active substances contained in these medicinal products that could adversely affect their efficacy and safety. What's more, the results of the study proved that the simultaneous use of gels with clindamycin and retinoids is associated with an improvement in the effectiveness of acne treatment. However, it is worth considering the possibility of local reactions, due to the presence of polyethylene glycol in the composition of Clindacne, which may cause skin irritation, which may be more sensitive to irritants during treatment with retinoids. As Clindacne is available with a prescription only and the abuse of antibacterial drugs leads to drug resistance if the gel has not been prescribed by a physician, it is worth consulting your doctor before using it.
