Hello, I have been taking the drug velaxin for two weeks. Unfortunately, I can not swallow tablets, the drug is used so that I chew the casing and the contents that are in the middle of the casing pour into the mouth and then swallow sipping it. Is such use of the drug harmful? Can I continue to take it like this if I can't swallow, will the medicine work properly?

Information contained in the summary of product characteristics: "It is recommended that Velaxin ER capsules be taken daily with food at approximately the same time. The capsules should be swallowed whole with liquid. They must not be divided, crushed, chewed or dissolved." The capsule can perform several important functions, e.g. be responsible for the proper dissolution of the drug in the appropriate section of the digestive tract (thanks to which it can be absorbed) and protect the stomach against the irritating effect of the active substance contained in the preparation. The inability to swallow the drug is an indication for medical consultation to determine another treatment option.
