Isotretinoin, also known as Izotek, is a drug used to treat severe cases of acne. One possible side effect is the effect on bone growth and development in young patients. Termination of growth is mentioned as a possible side effect, especially in young people taking Izotek. This is due to the effect of the drug on bone tissue and growth processes. For this reason, doctors try to carefully assess the potential benefits and risks before prescribing this drug to people of height-aged age. It is difficult to say unequivocally whether this will happen in this case, especially on the basis of such a short description. If you have doubts or questions about isotretinoin treatment, especially in the context of the impact on bone development in a young patient, I strongly recommend that you consult the attending physician who is responsible for caring for your son.
