Can 2g of L-glutamine be used per day?

At the request of a gastroenterologist I have to take L-glutamine 500mg in a dose of 2x2 per day. As a support for the treatment of SIBO. However, it is written on the packaging that the dose is 1-2 capsules per day. Unfortunately, I have no way to ask the doctor. Can this supplement really be taken in such an increased dose or could there be some distortion here?

L-glutamine is an endogenous amino acid, i.e. one that our body can synthesize itself. According to available information, glutamine doses can reach up to 15g per day, so the dosage of 2x1000mg is not too high. The doctor does not always order the intake of preparations in accordance with the manufacturer's leaflet, this is influenced by factors such as the current state of knowledge, experience and the patient's state of health. We wrote more about SIBO here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/sibo-zespol-rozrostu-bakteryjnego-jelita-cienkiego Through Gdziepolek it is possible to book or order preparations containing L-glutamine.
