Can I stop taking Zoloft if the side effects are severe for me?

I am after treatment for duodenal ulcers. The psychiatrist prescribed me the drug Zoloft - its side effects are related to the digestive system. I informed the psychiatrist about the ulcers and he said that there was nothing to fear. However, the side effects are quite severe for me (diarrhea, nausea and malaise). Should I stop taking the medication because of ulcers?

If you have bothersome side effects, you can stop taking the drug. Withdrawal of Zoloft should be done under medical supervision, gradually and with systematic dose reduction.
