Can I change the time of taking Glucophage if I am at a party and I intend to drink alcohol?

Good morning, I was ordered to take glucophage but I have a family event where alcohol will be served. I am recommended to take this medicine after dinner, but because of the long party I have a question whether if I eat the last meal, can I consume alcohol or should I do it just before bedtime. I do not have diabetes, only my doctor said that it is such a condition that "prevention is better than cure". Thank you in advance for your reply.
