Can I give Hitaxa 5 mg to a 6-year-old child?

Hello. The family doctor prescribed Hitax 5mg for a 6-year-old child (weight approx. 21 kg). The leaflet says that it can be given to children over 12 years of age. Can I still administer the drug?

Typically, Hitaxa 2.5 mg is recommended for children over 6 years of age. If the doctor has not indicated that he deliberately prescribes a higher dose of the drug (e.g. due to severe allergic symptoms), I encourage you to urgently renew the consultation with the doctor. You can also use the teleadvice offered, m.in by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja/z-alergologiem-dzieciecym Giving too much Hitaxa increases the risk of side effects such as tiredness or headache. I enclose links to check the availability of medicines and make a reservation at the selected pharmacy: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/36126/hitaxa-tabletki-ulegajace-rozpadowi-w-jamie-ustnej/apteki I encourage you to read additional materials that may be useful: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/alergia-u-dziecka https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czy-alergie-mozna-wyleczyc
