Please explain exactly - how does Cytotec work?

Hello. I am after a miscarriage, I cleaned myself and now they give me cytotec 2x 3 vaginal tablets I got the second time I got with saline to dissolve faster so that the uterus cleansed. Please explain exactly how Cytotec works?

Cytotec contains the active substance misoprostol. The main indication for the use of this preparation is gastric ulcer; Misoprostol inhibits acid secretion within the stomach, increases the production of protective mucus and bicarbonates. A side effect of this medicine is abortifacient, because it affects the muscle cells of the uterus, causing contractions, and reduces the tension of the cervix. In combination with mifepristone, it can be used to perform a pharmacological abortion (a method accepted by the WHO).
