Can I use Trileptal and Berberine?

Oxcarbazepine (the active substance in Trileptal) is an antiepileptic medicine mainly used to treat epilepsy and also in some cases of mood disorders. Berberine, on the other hand, is a natural chemical compound with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, used in some traditional eastern medicines. There are no known direct interactions between oxcarbazepine and berry. However, any combination of drugs can have potential side effects or affect the effectiveness of treatment, so it would be good to keep at least 2-3 hours between preparations.
