Can Endovelle (dienogest) and a contraceptive ring be used?

Good morning, The doctor told me to take endovella with a contraceptive ring, and in the leaflet she read that it could not be used with contraception. I do not know what to do in such a situation. I can contact the doctor in two weeks.

Hormonal contraception, including contraceptive rings, should be discontinued during treatment with Endovelle. As Endovelle is not a contraceptive, mechanical contraception (e.g. condoms) is recommended during treatment. The mechanism of action of the dienogest contained in Endovelle is to reduce the secretion of oestrogen in the body. When using contraceptive rings, synthetic estrogen is released in the vagina. Based on the mechanisms of action of both drugs, I find no justification for the simultaneous use of Endovelle and the contraceptive disc. I also do not find a similar justification in the current literature. However, the doctor has the right to prescribe drugs outside the official indications, based on his own knowledge and experience. We are talking about the so-called off-label treatment. If in doubt about the prescribed treatment, it is worth seeking the advice of a second gynecologist. You can consult a gynaecologist on-line: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja/z-ginekologiem Below is also a link to track availability and on-line booking with collection at the selected pharmacy of Endovelle: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/98413/endovelle-tabletki/apteki
