It is recommended that you start using Orlifique on day 1 of your cycle (i.e. the day you experience menstrual bleeding). This ensures the contraceptive effectiveness of the drug from the 1st tablet. If you start using Orlifique between day 2 and day 5 of your cycle, it is recommended to use an additional contraceptive method for a further 7 days. However, if you start using Orlifique 3 days before your menstrual period, it is recommended to use an additional method of contraception until the end of pack 1. Starting before the date of bleeding is not a standard recommended procedure, it may result from the indications of the attending physician (due to, for example, hormonal disorders).
