Oxycort A is a homogeneous yellow ointment, intended for administration primarily to the conjunctival sac. In addition to the active ingredient (oxytetracycline, hydrochloride and hydrocortisone acetate), the preparation contains white petroleum jelly as a substrate. The consistency should therefore be appropriate for petroleum jelly. Eye ointments are more oily than, for example, eye gels and have a thicker consistency. In case of doubt about the quality of the purchased drug, it is best to refer this matter to the pharmacy where the preparation was dispensed.
