The son has been coughing hard for a week. He hasn't slept for several nights. He coughs practically every few minutes. The cough sounds dry. For this slight fever and discharge from the nose, but not a big one The doctor prescribed pecto drill during the day and Acodin junior at night. Acodin prescribed so that he could sleep peacefully. However, after reading the articles, I do not know if such a combination of syrups is right. Please help and answer. Best regards

If the child can not sleep at night and the cough is very troublesome, you can give a cough suppressant at night, such as Acodin Junior. During the day (yes until 15-17) the recommended expectorant (Pecto Drill) should be administered. This is a practice commonly used to treat cough. I encourage you to read an additional opinion on a similar topic: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/opinie-i-pytania/69178/dexacaps-czy-majac-kaszel-mokry-moge-zazywac-cos-hamujacego-kaszel-na-noc Cough suppressants and expectorants should not be combined in the middle of the day. This is due to the opposing mechanisms of action of drugs. I would add that the son is over 5 years old.
