You can supplement with 800 mcg of folic acid while trying to get pregnant. This is not a very high dose. In the first trimester of pregnancy, folic acid supplementation is recommended at a dose of 400-800 μg / day, and in the II and III trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding 600-800 μg / day.
