Is the change from Trileptal and Depakine to Levetiracetam a good decision?

My son has been treated for epilepsy for 11 years, currently taking Trileptal 900 in the morning and 900mg in the evening and Depakine chronosphere 1250mg in the evening, has short seizures, the doctor wants to change the treatment to levetinacetam is this a good idea?

Let's start with the fact that these drugs that the son takes should not be used together. Well, but doctors still combine them. My daughter also had so recommended, but unfortunately it did not give anything, on the contrary. Change to Levalevetinacetam but teva as much as possible, only that the drug is not refunded and after zatym hard to buy it. And our replacements are not the same .

If the treatment so far has not resulted in a reduction in the frequency of attacks, it is possible that the change of medication will have a positive effect. Trileptal, Depakine chronosphere and Levetiracetam are drugs with different mechanisms of action. Assuming a rational approach to pharmacotherapy, when a drug with a given mechanism of action does not bring the desired results, a preparation with a different mechanism of action is used. This is exactly the solution proposed by the doctor. The doctor selects preparations based on the patient's health and treatment history, it is up to him to decide and assess the appropriateness of using a new therapy.
