Can Spironol reduce the effect of Jeanine tablets?
19.99 zł

Good morning, I am taking Jeanine birth control pills. 3 months ago, the gynecologist prescribed me Spironol at a dose of 25 mg per day. Today I noticed in class that spironolactone reduces the effect of contraception, which surprised me a bit, because the gynecologist would not prescribe me something that lowers contraception, but I was a little scared. Can Spironol reduce the effect of Jeanine tablets? I will add that I take Spironol at 9 p.m., and anti tablets at 3 p.m.

Spironolactone (the active ingredient in Spironol) does not interact significantly with the ingredients in Jeanine's birth control pill. So there is no reason to worry about the effectiveness of contraception. The use of birth control pills is usually indicated during spironolactone treatment: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/opinie-i-pytania/66636/spironol-czy-podczas-stosowania-leku-spironol-nalezy-stosowac-antykoncepcje I enclose the leaflets of medicines: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/74115/spironol-tabletki/ulotka https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/38893/jeanine-tabletki-powlekane/ulotka and an article about what drugs can weaken the effect of hormonal contraception: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jakie-leki-oslabiaja-skutecznosc-antykoncepcji
