Can Vermox be used during breastfeeding?

Good morning, The drug vermox and breastfeeding over 1.5 year old baby. Is it possible to administer the preparation while continuing breastfeeding? The doctor recommended discontinuing kp for 5 days after 1 time taking the drug (i.e. in practice discontinue kp), but I found information that the drug is L3 qualified and theoretically kp should not be a contraindication.

According to the package leaflet of Vermox, the use of the preparation in breastfeeding women should only take place if the doctor considers it necessary. We know from the available literature that mebendazole (the active substance in Vermox) has low oral bioavailability. The bioavailability of the drug increases when consumed simultaneously with a high-fat meal. The drug is slightly excreted in breast milk and so far no side effects have been indicated in fed children. Special care is recommended when feeding premature babies and newborns due to the increased intestinal absorption capacity. According to the available WHO classification, mebendazole is one of the medicinal substances compatible with breastfeeding. However, according to the lactation risk classification according to Prof. Hale, it is indicated that mebendazole belongs to the L3 group. Group L3 means that the drug is probably safe during breastfeeding. It is recommended that drugs of this category be used only if the beneficial effect in the mother outweighed the possible risk to the baby. In conclusion, I encourage you to use the drug before taking as long a break in feeding as possible. This will reduce the possible risk of side effects in your child. The half-life of the drug is on average 3-6 hours, which means that after 15-30 hours you will have traces of the active substance in your body. The highest concentration in the patient's blood occurs after 2-4 hours after the use of the preparation. I encourage you to avoid feeding during this time (a few hours after taking the medicine).
