Syphilis (syphilis) is caused by the pale spirochete - Treponema pallidum. This bacterium is most often transmitted through sexual contact (less often through a kiss or damaged skin) and manifests itself, m.in. as a genital ulcer, pale-red or pink, non-itchy spots located on the trunk or even on the whole body. For the treatment of syphilis, antibiotics are used - benzylpenicillin, doxycycline or ceftriaxone. In pharmacies, home tests are available to detect syphilis on their own.
