Nebivolol is contraindicated in pregnancy. The drug reduces blood flow through the placenta - it can cause the foetus to die or be underdeveloped, as well as miscarriage or premature birth. In the foetus (and in the newborn) bradycardia and hypoglycaemia may occur - close medical supervision is recommended. Pregnant women are treated with other procedures for hypertension.
