Good morning, Can taking PPIs cause bad breath from the mouth? On a daily basis, I do not have a problem with it, but I noticed that when I take drugs from this group I feel disgust in my mouth, I also have a very bad smell. Best regards

Unpleasant smell from the mouth can be caused m.in. by gastroesophageal reflux, tooth decay, oral infections. PPIs may cause taste disturbances. We wrote more in the opinion: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/opinie-i-pytania/95960/witam-czy-leki-ipp-moga-powodowac-zaburzenia-smakowe-od-miesia If the smell persists, I encourage you to consult a doctor. You can also use the teleadvice offered, m.in. by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja Perhaps bad breath is the result of increased gastroesophageal reflux, during which you use a drug from the PPI group. This may be mistakenly considered an adverse reaction of the medicine. If it is confirmed that in your case bad breath is the result of using a drug from the PPI group, I encourage you to report the occurrence of this type of side effect. Reporting adverse reactions allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market.
